City officials are considering hiring an outside negotiator to represent their interests in further contract talks with members of the local unit of the Civil Service Employees Association.
"We have to reach a balance with the other side," Mayor Joseph E. Harrigan said Tuesday. "They (the CSEA unit) have their own negotiator. It would help keep talks on an even keel."
Harrigan said a final decision on hiring a negotiator could be made this week.
