Vic: $100,000 reward to find missing girl

MELBOURNE, Aug 1 AAP - Victoria police today announced a $100,000 reward for information
on the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl eight years ago.

Prudence Bird was last seen at her Glenroy home in Melbourne's north around 2.10pm
on February 2, 1992.

Detectives investigating her disappearance believe she might have met with foul play.

Detective Sergeant Tony Thatcher said someone must have information that could help
unravel the mystery.

"No matter how trivial the information may seem, it may be all we need to help solve
the case," Det Sgt Thatcher said in a statement.

He said the reward would be paid for information leading to the arrest and conviction
of anyone who committed an offence related to Prue's disappearance.

The reward, posted by the state government, coincides with Missing Persons Week which
highlights the fact up to 7,000 Victorians are reported missing every year.
